Invergordon

Docked at Invergordon this morning. Just walking about the town. The murals on the walls are quite attractive. Popped into the craft fair. Thought we might as well have lunch ashore but couldn't get near a cafe with wifi so just using the mobile data. After lunch walked about a little more and then back to the ship.

At sea on route to Invergordon

We should have been on the way to Lerwick overnight but as the seas were too high it would have been too dangerous to use the tenders. It was force 8 and five and a half metre waves so We stayed at the Faroes and didn't leave till this morning. Going directly to Invergordon. Less stormy today. Waves only 5 metres. However still over force 7 and still quite bumpy so there was no lunchtime buffet today and everyone had to go to the dining room for lunch. No soup served either. It is getting calmer. Just as well because it's a formal night tonight.

Correction. It got worse again. Plates, cups, glasses flying everywhere. I was in the shower when George's shaving foam hit the shower curtain and landed on my foot closely followed by toothpaste, toothbrush, mouthwash etc. It's Beaufort 9 with 6.5 metre waves. By tomorrow it will be calmer. They are expecting Beaufort 5 with waves 2.5. It has been quite exciting. We are in Scott's where we usually have a dance but we have been told no dancing tonight. Too dangerous. There have already been a few falls and 2 code alphas tonight. Just having a drink instead with Marjorie and Rae, our dining table companions. Found out later that the code alphas were because at first sitting dinner some chairs actually went over with people sitting on them and also loads of plates and glasses went flying off tables and smashed. One passenger was actually knocked out. No serious injuries though. By second sitting the glasses had been replaced with plastic tumblers. Not sure if that was purely for safety or because there were no glasses left! Overall quite exciting. Sea bands did their job though. Neither of us felt bad.

Faroes

Docked at Kollfjordur. Weather atrocious. George didn't feel too well this morning. (Too much cake last night?) so I took the shuttle into Torshaven. Realised I'd forgotten my purse so just used the wifi and then went back to check on George and see if he was coming ashore in the afternoon. George still didn't eat much but felt a bit better so came on the shuttle into Torshaven. Felt the fresh air would do him good. Weather has brightened up a little bit too.

Got back into town to find the tourist information had closed minutes before. All the other shops in town were closed all day on Sunday's. So couldn't get a single souvenir! Will have to make do with our photos. As George decided to have a sleep I thought I might as well go back into the town on the shuttle as the views were so nice. Believe it or not a shop opened from 6 so did manage to get a few little things. Then back for dinner and an early night.

At sea on way to Faroes

Spent a quiet morning. In the afternoon my partner and I won the carpet bowls. After that there was a cha cha class. Then we went to get ready for the Columbus club cocktail party for people that have done at least 20 nights with CMV before. Then quiet day again till dinner. We were told that it will be a force 8 tonight and bad weather when we were supposed to be in Lerwick but it was a tender transfer and the sea would be too rough so we are staying overnight at the Faroes and then going straight to Invergordon. Safety first. Bit disappointing but one of those things. Tonight was the fancy buffet.

Golden circle tour

Today we went on the all day tour. To the Geysir. Then a nice lunch and to the Waterfall and then to the Rift Valley and finally into the town. It was clear enough to see the glacier in the distance. Quite amused at the Rift Valley. The toilets are so expensive that they take credit cards
